Mike Sherwin is the president, technical lead, and founder of the company. He is a regional mapping specialist with previous experience at a number of consulting and exploration companies including Baytex, GDGC, Tekkmark, IGC, and as an independent consultant. He received a B.Sc. Honours degree in Geology from the University of Manitoba in 1981, and is a member of APEGA, CSPG, and AAPG.

Mike began publishing exploration-focused subsurface maps in 1996, and first developed the ‘Western Canada Geological Edge Set’ in 2004. The company has subsequently expanded its map coverage throughout North America.

Joel Harding graduated from the University of Windsor in 1984 with an Honours degree in Geology.  He worked in minerals exploration in Sweden for a few years and then moved to Calgary to find work in the oil and gas business.

In 1987, Joel was hired by geologist Ed Fogg, who was starting up a small company called Canadian Discovery Digest Ltd.  Together they created and developed a variety of information products for geologists including Canadian Discovery Digest (87), the Horizontal Drilling Report (91), Current Exploration Overview (CEO) maps (95), Canadian Frontiers CEO maps (98), the United Kingdom Discovery Digest (98), the Strategy 2000 report (99) and its related EDGE software (99), the Norway Discovery Digest (01), and many other geo-innovations.  Joel was an integral part of Canadian Discovery Ltd. (as it has been called since 1991) for 18 years.

In 2006, Joel began working with Mike Sherwin of Sherwin Geological Consulting Ltd.  After a year of successful growth and expansion they became business partners and temporarily renamed the company Sherwin GeoEdges Inc. (which was shortened to GeoEdges Inc. two years later). 

Over the past 30 years, Joel has been involved in the creation and development of a variety of geological exploration tools and he has marketed those extensively to a wide network of contacts in Canada, the USA, Western Europe, and Australia.

Rick James

Vice President, Operations

Rick James - born and raised in Calgary, graduated in 1996 from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Petroleum Engineering and has since attended the Haskayne School of Business and most recently Mount Royal University studying Project Management.

Rick has worked at numerous exploration and production companies over the last 20+ years in the oil and gas industry. He is highly experienced and specializes in technical mapping and GIS-based software. 

For the past 13 years, Rick has worked beside Mike Sherwin at the GeoEdges head office managing and maintaining the day-to-day operations, direction and decisions of the corporation.
